Info tel: (216) 659-0473.On June 30th people across the United States are standing up and demanding that the Trump administration end the cruel policies against immigrants and their families. The Trump Administration is breaking families apart!
It’s happening at our borders, at churches, schools, and workplaces. Toddlers are being ripped from their mother’s arms as they seek protection at the border. An overburdened system is now being further bombarded as hundreds more children are sent to detention centers simply for their existence in the United States. Mothers and fathers who have lived in the country for decades are being forced to decide whether they should leave their American children behind, or take them across the border to face a possible death sentence in a country now foreign to them.
These policies traumatize families and communities as kids are left without any stable sense of care. As ICE inhumanely seizes parents from their workplaces children are often left abandoned at day care, forced into a foreign foster care system because other family members fear they too will be deported if they go forth to claim these children. The now young adults referred to as Dreamers who came to this country as children are losing their protection under DACA (Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals). Dreamers are part of the American family. They go to school in our neighborhoods, they work alongside us, they pray in our same churches, and they have American born siblings and children. Forcing these young immigrants to leave behind their families and dreams is heartless and wrong.
Furthermore the termination of TPS (Temporary Protective Status) will continue the separation of families who were able to live, work legally, and raise their U.S. born children in our neighborhoods under this arrangement.
What the Trump Administration is doing not only jeopardizes the dignity of the constitution and the moral values this country was founded to strive for, but also commits grave human rights violations under international law. It is up to us to demand justice for our immigrant communities and families that are under attack, and stop these inhumane policies from doing further damage. We are calling for three actions: 1. Family reunification. Families divided by the "zero tolerance" policy of the Trump administration and the cruel ICE raids across Ohio have divided families. We call upon the Trump administration and Congress to reunify all of these families humanely and immediately. 2. Defund ICE. 3. Pass legislation creating an immigration system that values human dignity.
Please create posters and communications reflecting these three demands for this upcoming rally.
